Many multi-disciplinary practices operate more than one regulated sector under a single ABN — an accounting practice with a real estate arm, a law firm that also does conveyancing. Under Tranche 2 you remain one reporting entity: one AUSTRAC enrolment, one AML/CTF program, one compliance officer. Service lines model exactly that. Each line carries its own profession, so a real estate client answers real estate risk questions while an accounting client answers accountant questions — inside the same firm, with one unified compliance program above them.
Your first service line is included in every plan. Each additional line is +50% of your plan’s base fee, recurring. Contact support to enable additional service lines for your firm.

Why not two separate accounts

Because one ABN is one reporting entity. Splitting into two ClearAML accounts would give you two AML/CTF program documents for a single entity, no combined view for your compliance officer, and duplicate client records — the same customer verified, screened, and charged for twice. Service lines keep the separation you want in day-to-day work without breaking the compliance picture AUSTRAC expects.

Adding a service line

1

Open Settings → Service Lines

Available to Admin, Owner, and Compliance Officer users.
2

Click Add service line

Give it a name your team will recognise in the switcher, for example Real Estate.
3

Choose its profession

The profession sets the risk methodology for every client on that line — the risk questionnaire, red-flag indicators, and document language. It cannot be changed later: archive the line and create a new one instead.
4

Optionally set a trading name

If the line trades under its own brand, enter it here. Clients of that line then see the trading name on onboarding emails and pages. Formal documents always carry your firm’s legal identity.
Your original sector needs no setup — it is your firm’s primary line, driven by the profession you chose at signup.

Working day to day

Once you have at least one additional line, a service-line switcher appears in the dashboard header.
  • Scoping the register. Switch to a line to see only its clients, or choose All service lines for the whole entity.
  • New clients default to the line you are currently viewing. Self-onboarding invitations inherit it too, and CSV imports can carry a Service line column.
  • Bulk actions only ever touch the line you are viewing — selecting “all matching” while scoped to one line can never reach another line’s clients.
  • Risk assessments automatically use the client’s own line’s questionnaire.
  • Client profile PDFs print the service line on the cover.

Moving clients between lines

Open a client’s profile and choose Service line, or select several clients in the register and use the Service line bulk action. Available to Admin, Owner, and Compliance Officer.
Moving a client changes the methodology used for their future assessments only. Past assessments keep the exact questions and rating they were scored with, so your history stays defensible.

Restricting staff to a service line

For internal separation, restrict analysts to their own line: Team → actions menu () → Service-line access. Tick the lines they should see, or leave All service lines selected for no restriction. Restricted members see only clients of their lines — enforced at the database level, not merely hidden in the interface. A client outside their lines cannot be reached even by direct link.
Admins, Owners, and Compliance Officers always see the whole firm and cannot be restricted. The entity-wide view is an AUSTRAC obligation for the compliance officer, not a preference.

Separating both teams

Clients on your primary line are visible to unrestricted members only — there is no way to restrict staff to the primary line, because it has no line of its own. So if you want both teams walled off from each other, give every sector its own service line (including the one you signed up with), move all clients onto those lines, and restrict each team to theirs. Ask support to enable this when you set it up: your first line still counts as the plan-included occupation, so walling both teams costs no more than walling one.

Your AML/CTF program

Regenerating your AML/CTF program produces a single blended document covering every line: sector-specific ML/TF methods and red-flag indicators are identified by service line, while entity-level obligations — enrolment, governance, reporting — apply to the firm as a whole.
After adding a service line, regenerate and republish your AML/CTF program so the document reflects your new sector.

Archiving a service line

Archive a line you no longer operate from Settings → Service Lines. Its clients keep their history and remain visible entity-wide, and you can restore the line at any time (subject to your plan capacity). Service lines are never permanently deleted, so historical assessments always resolve.

Pricing

A client is one identity no matter how many lines your firm runs, so you are never charged twice to verify or screen the same person.
